Floyd Darryl Goade

TABLE ROCK, Mo. —

Floyd Darryl Goade was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Columbus, Kan., to Mineor Darryl and Edith Eliza (Hawkins) Goade. Darryl attended both the University of Tulsa and Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kan. There he attained degrees in Physics and Mathematics in 1957.

Darryl and Beverly Ann Lovelady were married Aug. 26th, 1956, in Columbus, and made their home in Baxter Springs, Kan.

In 1958, Darryl began working for Eagle-Picher Industries in Joplin, Mo., as an engineer. The next 34 years he spent designing and building batteries that would power many projects like the Saturn and Apollo Missions for NASA, the Lunar Rover and the Space Shuttle program. He also headed special projects with battery powered vehicles on both land and water. Both the Miss Nickel Eagle and the Miss Silver Eagle, at one time, held the land and water speed records for electric vehicles. He leaves behind an incredible legacy as an innovator, both in his professional life, as well as being a master inventor in his very own garage, where some of his best work still lives on to remind us of his of genius forever!

Retirement led the Goades to spend their time between Rock Creek on Table Rock Lake in Missouri and Long Island Village in Port Isabel, Texas. Both places were great outlets for Darryl's love of the great outdoors, golf, music, family and great friends.

Darryl Goade leaves behind the love of his life, Annie, who shared every precious minute of his life and will miss him every day until they are united again. Also left are his daughter, Courtney Becker and her husband, Jim, of Springfield, Mo., their two children, Brennan, of Springfield, and Morgan Nangle and husband, Drew of St. Louis, and two Children of the Heart, Mario Busjra and wife, Mirena and son, Elan, of Seattle, Wash., and Diana and husband, Jarrett Brown, of Naples, Fla.; daughter, Cass Bray and husband, Greg, of Nixa, Mo., and their two children, Jack and Jacy; and Darryl's only sister, Jennifer and her husband, Gary Burton, of Carl Junction, Mo. As a very proud uncle, Darryl enjoyed all the accomplishments of his host of nieces and nephews. Izzy Goade, his Giant Schnauzer, will also live every day missing her best friend.

A celebration of Darryl's life and the spreading of his ashes will take place on the afternoon of June 14 in Rock Creek on Table Rock Lake. All who loved Darryl are welcome to come enjoy this time of remembering and celebration. Contact the family for more information on this blessed event.
