Richard W. Weisensee Jr.

JOPLIN, Mo. —

Richard W. Weisensee Jr., age 54, of Joplin, Mo., passed away at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

Richard was born Sept. 4, 1958, in Yokahama, Japan. He had lived in Joplin since 1978. He received his Associates degree in Business from Allen County Jr. College in Iola, Kan. He was a 1980 graduate of Missouri Southern State College with a degree in marketing and management. He was a member of the Missouri Southern Baseball Hall of Fame and was recently inducted into the Allen County Junior College Baseball Hall of Fame. Richard was employed as the national sales representative for Kraft Foods, servicing Sam's Clubs. He was a member of the Villa Heights Christian Church where he had served as an elder and worked in the children's and youth ministries.

Richard married Terri Briley Oct. 10, 1980, in Joplin. She survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Rachel Wallace and husband, David, Hollister, Mo., and Megan Rice and husband, Timothy, Kenosha, Wis.; his parents, Richard and Eiko Weisensee Sr., Overland Park, Kan.; one brother, Robert Weisensee, Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Theresa Bosch and husband, Ray and family, Shawnee, Kan., and Deborah Cooper and husband, Ray and family, Olathe, Kan.; a brother-in-law, Mark Briley and wife, Rhonda and family, Joplin; his in-laws, Jerry and Lela Briley, Joplin; and four grandchildren, Deven, twins Boston and Broden and Addisyn Rice. He was preceded in death by his mother in law, Veda Briley.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Villa Heights Christian Church with Truman Brady, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to a Scholarship Fund for the Weisensee grandchildren in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary& Crematory, of Joplin.
