JOPLIN, Mo. —
John Vernon Starchman, age 90, passed away March 23, 2013, at 6:30 a.m. at the Missouri State Veteran's Home, Mount Vernon, Mo.
John was born Nov. 8, 1922, to John and Cora Starchman, both deceased.
John served in the United States Navy from July 15, 1942 to Nov. 25, 1945.
He married Charlotte L. Cox on Oct. 19, 1946. She survives in Joplin.
John is also survived by his three sons, John L. Starchman and wife, Judy, Cassville, Mo., Paul C. Starchman, Joplin, and David L. Starchman and wife, Ruth, of Joplin; three grandchildren, Brian L. Starchman, Joplin, John R. Starchman, Webb City, and Janell Hurn and husband, Ryan, of Branson, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Megan Turner, Webb City, and Ryan Starchman, Joplin; two brothers, Vearl Starchman, rural Carl Junction, Mo., and Lional Starchman, California; nieces and nephews, Maurice Mosley, Plano, Texas, who will officiate services, Sharon Mayo, rural Carl Junction, Dean Starchman, Webb City, Darrell Starchman, rural Carl Junction, Carrol Patten, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Steve Starchman. John was preceded in death by one grandson, Joe Starchman, born May 2, 1978, and passed away May 31, 1995; seven sisters and two brothers.
Visitation at Mason-Woodard Chapel will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 27. Funeral services will be held at Mason-Woodard Mortuary Chapel at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28. Burial with full Military Honors will be follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
