JOPLIN, Mo. —
Eugene "Gene" O. Fisher, age 86, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013, after a long illness.
Gene was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Joplin, son of the late Arthur and Ruth Deem Fisher.
He married Cecelia J. Wiggins on Oct. 16, 1949.
Gene was the owner of Fisher Dental Lab in Joplin, for over 32 years. He was a lifetime member of the Joplin Elk's Lodge No. 501 and during the 1960s was active with the Boy Scouts of America where he served as a leader with Troop No. 13 in Joplin. He was also a member of the Christian Church.
After his retirement, Gene and Cecelia moved to Table Rock Lake where they enjoyed spending time together with their children and grandchildren. They also enjoyed traveling together across the United States.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Fisher and Harry Brown; and his sisters, Betty Briggs and Patricia Perdue.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years; sons, Rick Fisher and wife, Coley, of Brea, Calif., and Floyd Fisher and wife, Julie, of Joplin; a daughter, Liz Mascher and husband, David, of Joplin; grandchildren, Adam Fisher, Grayson Fisher, Jennifer Junghans and husband, Jeremy, Doug Mascher and wife, Kristi and Becca White and husband, Jon; five great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Lauren and Matthew Junghans and Canon and Caden White.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 1, at 10 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery Open Air Pavilion with Rev. Reggie Powers officiating.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Villa Heights Christian Church or Elk's Lodge Christmas Program.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
