LAMAR, Mo. —
Mary Lou Poindexter, age 87, of Lamar, died Thursday, April 4, 2013.
Mary Lou was born April 25, 1925, in Carrollton, Mo., to Luther and Nancy Mae (Bowles) Carter. She graduated Bogard High School in 1943. On June 22, 1947, she married George William "Bill" Poindexter at Bogard, Mo. and he preceded her in death Nov. 21, 1994.
Mary Lou was a member of First Baptist Church of Lamar, a member of the church choir, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Surviving Spouses, however, family always came first.
Survivors include one son, George and Shirley Poindexter, of Boise, Idaho; one daughter, Patty and Ben Lamb, of Lamar, Mo.; one brother, Edgar Ray and Glenda Carter, of Sun City, Ariz.; one sister, Margaret and Robert Earl Gentry, of Carrollton, Mo.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- granddaughter. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, LeRoy Carter and Harold Pat Carter; one sister, Inez Emerson; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Daniel Funeral Home with Rev. Robb Hodson officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bogard, Mo. Family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Daniel Funeral Home.
