JOPLIN, Mo. —
Julie Ann Smith, 81 years, passed to heaven at her home on April 9, 2013.
Julie was born April 1, 1932, in Oak Park, Ill., to Thomas and Helen Milan.
Julie was united in marriage to John W. Smith on June 5, 1952, in Bentonville, Ark. To this union Julie was a wonderful mother to seven children, Barry William Smith, Naomi Jean Perriguey, Sheree Ann Slaughterbeck, John Scott Smith, Gwendolyn Vera Davis, Monica Louis Delcour and Alice Elaine Taft.
Julie loved life and enjoyed traveling with her husband, kids and grandkids. She was an avid crafter and seamstress. She enjoyed making crafts, crocheting and sewing for others. She enjoyed family gatherings at the lake and at home. She was a teacher of many life lessons and skills to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed working as a cook for the Joplin School District and later retired from the school system.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Smith, in 2001.
She is survived by her seven children, 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brothers, Jerry Milan, Wally Milan and Keith Baer and many other dear friends and family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m. at Parker Mortuary, 1502 South Joplin Avenue, Joplin.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
