JOPLIN, Mo. —
Norma C. Pence, age 79, of Joplin, Mo., passed away late Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin.
Norma was born on March 5, 1934, in Joplin, the daughter of Austin and Erma "Peggy" (Phillips) Byrd. She was a lifetime area resident, where she spent her days loving and caring for her family as a homemaker. Norma loved and was loved by friends and family, the thing she enjoyed most was her annual RV trips across the United States with her husband.
She married Jerry E. Pence, on March 15, 1952, in Eureka Springs, Ark. He preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2012.
Norma is survived by her son, Danny Pence and his wife, Lorna, of Riverton, Kan.; five grandchildren, Nathan Pence, Joshua Sanford, Erica Cox, Crystal Butler and Ivy Carter; seven great-grandchildren, Haley, Hayden, Macy, Malachi, Echo, Allie and Sydney; and her cousin and best friend, Marillyn Van Winkle.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel, Jarel Burnside, will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
