Randy Lee Cox

HARLINGEN, Texas — Randy Lee Cox, 54, from Joplin, Mo., passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, after being ill since October.

He was born in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 9, 1959, to Lowell and Patricia Cox. He grew up in Joplin, and always considered Joplin his hometown.

Randy attended Parkwood High School in Joplin. Randy began working in the television/media industry over 20 years ago and held many "behind the scenes" positions. He was a vital part of the broadcast of each newscast. He currently was employed with KGBT Action 4 News for the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

Randy is survived by his brother, Jeff Cox; sister, Carrie Cox; nephew, Cameron Cox; and great-niece, Callie Cox, all of Harlingen. He also had wonderful and loving family members in Missouri and California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Patricia Cox; and sister, Tracey Cox.

Randy will be remembered for several things: He loved his family dearly and always put them first. He had a laid back and positive attitude which always enabled him to enjoy life. He always had a "back in Chicago" story to tell. He truly loved electronics and modern gadgets and always liked to talk about them and show them to everyone.

Funeral services will be at the Saginaw Memorial Cemetery in Saginaw, Mo., on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. Frank Knorpp will be conducting the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saginaw Memorial Cemetery for maintenance and upkeep are very much appreciated.
