JOPLIN, Mo. —
Sue Phillips passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013, after a long illness.
She was born July 1, 1955, in Marshall, Mo., daughter of Richard and Charlotte Carrico. Sue was a graduate of Marshall High School. She lived in Sedalia, Mo., for many years working at Mercantile Bank and Alcan Cable.
She married her husband, Stan, on April 8, 2005, and moved to Joplin, Mo., to live on his family homestead.
Sue was a distributor for the Signature Home Styles and had a flair for decorating. She enjoyed making things pretty. She loved crafts and shared her projects with family and friends. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she enjoyed seeing the little ones open her gifts. Sue and Stan loved to travel and had visited several countries.
In addition to her loving husband, Sue is survived by her mother, Charlotte, of Marshall; her sister, Wilma and her husband Don, of Smithton, Mo.; sister, Carol McCord, of Marshall; and brother, Robert, also of Marshall. She is also survived by special friend, Kathy Boyd; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends and neighbors that were dear to her. Her father, Richard and younger sister, Christy preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary Chapel in Joplin. Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends on Monday prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the mortuary office.
