PITTSBURG, Kan. —
E. Richard "Dick" Hunt, 81, of Pittsburg, Kan., went to be with The Lord on Jan. 3, 2013.
He was born to Elmer and Alma Hunt, the 8th of 11 children. He was married to his beautiful wife, Lynn for 52 years. He was an active member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle where he was a member of the choir.He was a proud veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Air Force and Air National Guard. He was in the banking industry most of his adult life. He graduated from Seneca, Mo., High School and later moved back to run the State Bank of Seneca.
He and his family loved vacationing in Colorado and lived in the mountains for several years where he chartered the Crested Butte State Bank. He was the founding charter member of University National Bank in Pittsburg. He loved fishing with his many fishing buddies and had a fishing cabin at Grand Lake. He was a member of an elite group of fishermen known as the Kansas International Fishing Team. He enjoyed attending PSU sporting events and watching all types of sports especially the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, St. Louis Cardinals. He was a golfer winning several tournaments and achieved a hole-in-one. He was a pilot and a member of AOPA. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the produce with friends and family. He was a very giving man. His family was his life. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will truly miss the Patriarch of their family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn; parents; four sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include son, Timothy Richard Hunt; daughters, Marsha Hunt Duran & Mary Hunt-Hansen; grandchildren, Candice (Shane) Shepherd, Andrew Richard (Erica) Hunt, Katie Duran, Nicole (Kevin) Iverson, Rebekah Apperson, Richard Blake Hansen, & Brandi Hansen; great-grandchildren, Caedence & Zachary Shepherd, Bryana, Gabriel Richard, & Lily Jo Hunt, Aidan, Aubrey, & Olivia Iverson, Abigail & Colton Apperson; sisters, Georgia Stark & Josephine Campbell; brothers, Bill Hunt & Johnny Hunt; many cousins, nieces, nephews, & friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS. A celebration of Richards life will be Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. at the Lighthouse Tabernacle, 115 W. 5th, Pittsburg, KS. Burial with military honors will be at the Ft. Scott National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established at Lighthouse Tabernacle to benefit children in Israel and at Lighthouse Tabernacle.
