NEOSHO, MO —

Violet L. Johns, 80, entered into rest on Jan. 29, 2013, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, Neosho, Mo., following a sudden illness.

She was born Dec. 6, 1932, in Maryville, Mo., to Frank Henry and Mabel Eleanor (Archer) Cornett.  

Violet lived most of her life in the Neosho area and worked as a homemaker. She grew up singing at hootenannies, loved to crochet and putting together puzzles. She also operated an Antique and Collectible Mall with her daughter, Sherry, for seven years and loved to spend time with her family.

Violet married Dr. William F. Johns on June 14, 2003. He survives.

She is also survived by her children, Dwayne Dabbs, of Wichita, Kan., Sherry Dabbs, of Joplin, and Tammy Corse (Dan), of Rolla, Mo.; brother, Rollie Cornett, of Texarkana, Texas; sisters, Cynthia Potter (Al), of Neosho, Doris Sexson (Jim), of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; sister-in-law, Shirley Cornett; brother-in-law, Howard Woodward; two grandchildren, Holly Pesce (Micah) and Ben Ward (Jamie); and two great-grandchildren, Riley Pesce and Paxton Ward. Violet is preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Janice Kay Turley; brother, Jerry Cornett; and sister, Shirley Woodward.

The body will be cremated and memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel Of Memories, Neosho. Pastor Dan Corse officiating.  

Cremation services under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
