JOPLIN, MO —
Doris Fabian Love, 88, formerly of Joplin, passed from this life on Dec. 22, 2012, in Summerfield, Fla.
Born in Sperry, Okla., she was a daughter of the late Roy Moss and Minta Buttram Moss and the stepdaughter of the late Janie Smothers Moss, of Jenks, Okla.
Doris was predeceased by her late husbands, George Dunham Sr., of Tulsa, Okla., Harold Fabian, of Joplin, and Eugene Love Sr., of Portsmouth, R.I.
Her early career was with the telephone company in Tulsa. Years later, with her late husband, Harold Fabian, she owned and operated the Maytag Laundry in Joplin, and later took up flying when the pair operated the Joplin Airport's Cessna shuttle service. She was then employed at Mickey Mantle's Holiday Inn in Joplin, for several years, before becoming a nursing assistant at St. John's Hospital.
After relocating to Tiverton, R.I. in 1971, she continued her career as a nursing assistant at Truesdale and Charlton Memorial Hospitals before retiring in the late 1980s.
She and her late husband, Gene, loved to travel and follow NASCAR racing, making many friends along the way.
During the last few years, Doris enthusiastically took up gold prospecting and was a member of the Lost Dutchman Mining Association in Georgia.
Doris was loved by everyone for her sweet and gentle spirit.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kay Fournier, of Tiverton, and Betty Jean Fabian, of Summerfield; six grandchildren, Shael Colantonio, of Tiverton, Kress Amaral, of Rehoboth, Mass., Glade Keener, of Barboursville, W.Va., Brandon and David Fabian, of Summerfield, and Casey Edwards, of Cody, Wyo.; and seven great-grandchildren, Samantha, Isaac, Mya, Raynor Lee, Gawain, David Jr., Zoe and another on the way.
Arrangements in Florida were private.
