CARTHAGE, MO —
Kenneth J. Martinsen, 72, of Carthage, Mo., died 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following an illness.
Kenneth was born May 29, 1940, in Baltimore, Md., the son of Owen and Anna (Nodelney) Martinsen.
On July 13, 1976, Kenneth married Linda Laney in Miami, Okla. She survives at the home.
Kenneth was an over-the-road truck driver, working for several local companies including Leggett & Platt and Forcum Truck Lines. Kenneth was of the Christian faith; loved the water and swimming was a favorite pastime. He was an animal lover and his girls gave him great joy.
Survivors include his wife; sister, Robin Cartwright, of Baltimore; children, Christine Porter, of Lakeview, N.C., Brian Martinsen, of Vass, N.C., Sandra Martinsen, of Springfield, Mo., Scott Martinsen, of Morrisville, Mo., Stephanie Horton, of Indianapolis, Ind., Mark Cresse, U.S. Army, Virginia, Brent Laney, of Carthage; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Owen Martinsen.
Celebration of Life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Carterville Christian Church in Carterville, Mo.
Cremation arrangements are by Midland Cremation Society, of Joplin.
