Katherine D. Herb

JOPLIN, Mo. —      Katherine Delores Herb, age 96, of Joplin passed away on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, in Joplin.

Katherine was born April 26, 1916, in Joplin. She was a graduate of Joplin High School as well as a graduate of Joplin Business College. She was a life-long member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church, past-president of Joplin Women's Club, and a 60-year member of Chapter GA, P.E.O. Sisterhood. She and her husband owned and operated Herb's Grocery Store for 35 years.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson L. Herb; her parents, Frank and Mabel Burress; two brothers, Frank Burress Jr. and Robert Burress; one sister, Elizabeth Thompson; and a grandson, Ryan P. Gold,all of Joplin.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Katherine Gold and husband, Craig Patrick of Joplin; grandson, Brad Gold of Valley Village, Calif.; granddaughters, Kristi Schwab and husband, Brett of Joplin, and Kelly Waggoner and husband, Eric of Lowell, Ark.; and great grandchildren, Ella, Kennady, Landry, and Braxton Schwab.

Private graveside service arrangements have been planned in Mount Hope Cemetery with Father Frank Sierra of St. Philip's Episcopal Church officiating.

Services are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Philip's Episcopal Church of Joplin.
