Jean D. Teel, age 82, of Kansas City, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at the home of her daughter. She's now busy cradling the babies in heaven.

Born Nov. 27, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo., she was the daughter of the late William H. Dingwerth and Irene Gallehugh Dingwerth. In 2005, she moved from Joplin to Kansas City to be near her daughter. Jean was a 1947 graduate of Westport High School in Kansas City, and was a lithograph artist during her early years of marriage. She was also a watercolor artist, having studied at Kansas City Art Institute. She was a member of St. Philips' Episcopal Church in Joplin, and was a past officer of Joplin's Republican Women and Womans Club. She was a contributor to Past & Repast, a cookbook from the Missouri Governors Mansion.

On Aug. 23, 1952, she married Charles E. (Chuck) Teel Jr. in Kansas City. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2005.

She was also preceded by Jean Riley, who she referred to as her sister by choice.

Surviving Jean are two daughters, Jan Magathan, of Kansas City, and Cindy West and husband, Cory, of Edmond, Okla.; a granddaughter and grandson, Caroline and Carl West, both of Edmond.

Jean loved horseback riding and horse racing. She and Chuck loved spending winters in Key West, Fla. She was the family cheerleader, always supporting and participating in all the activities of her husband, daughters and grandchildren.

A family visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10th, at Parker Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to Firefighter's Honor Guard Fund.

Her cheerfulness and playful spirit will be missed.
