SALINA, KS —
Vonda Darlene Harding, age 82, departed this life on Monday, May 7, 2012, at Salina, Kan.
Vonda was born Jan. 20, 1930, in Guthrie, Okla., the daughter of Guy and Bessie (Chaddock) Griffith. Vonda was a graduate of Arkansas City, Kan. High School, Class of 1947.
Vonda married Herbert E. Harding on Dec. 28, 1946, in Arkansas City. Herbert preceded her in death on May 23, 1996.
Vonda and Herb lived in several states and countries while Herb served in the United States Army for 28 years. After Herb's retirement from the Army in 1972, they bought and managed together the Hillcrest Bowling Lanes in Arkansas City, for many years. Vonda won many bowling awards at State and National Bowling Tournaments. Vonda belonged to the State VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. Vonda enjoyed watching her sons and grandkids and great-grandkids sporting events. She loved football, tennis and golf.
Survivors include sons, Stephen E. Harding and wife, Vicki, Salina, and Ray D. Harding and wife, Cindy, St. Robert, Mo.; grandchildren, Matthew Harding (Janel), Joplin, Mo., Stacey Manor (Thomas), Yuma, Ariz., Chris Harding, Wichita, and Lauri Goheen (Chris), Salina; and great-grandchildren, Hayden and Colsen Harding, Joplin, Tristan Harding, Wichita, Nicholas Harding, Christian and Sara Goheen, Salina. Vonda's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joys of her life. She is also survived by half-brother, Larry White (Edna), Winfield; and brother-in-law, Max Hardiman, Kaw City, Okla. Vonda was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Velma, Velta and Rowena.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, in the Tannehill Cemetery, Geuda Springs, Kan., with Rev. Robert Ferris officiating.
The family request no flowers. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Humane Society of your choice or the Wounded Warrior Fund, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 North 8th, Salina, KS 67401.
