JOPLIN, Mo. —
Howard Robert Schwantz, age 60, of Joplin, passed away at his home at 6:37 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013.
Born May 19, 1952 in Beaver Dam, Wis., he was the son of the late Alfred Schwantz Sr. and Viola Koehn Schwantz and was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He moved to Joplin in 1981, from Beaver Dam. For many years he was a supervisor at Tyson in Neosho, and worked 11 years for Lozier in Joplin. Howard loved racing, playing pool and was a fan of the Greenbay Packers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Louise Magnusson Schwantz on Dec. 5, 2002; and a daughter, Megan Marie Schwantz in 1983.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Schwantz and wife, Lindsey, of Joplin, and Matthew Schwantz, of Joplin; two daughters, Michelle Schwantz, of Joplin, and Bobbie Jo Birkholz and husband, Doug, of Fond Du Lac, Wis.; three grandsons, Daniel, Loggan and Alec; one brother, Alfred Schwantz Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Wisconsin; two sisters, Lora Uherka and Mary Lou Bennett, both of Wisconsin; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Interment in Osborne Memorial Cemetery will be at a later date.
