JOPLIN, Mo. — Helen Freda McClary, age 90, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Landmark Hospital in Joplin.

Helen was born on July 2, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Henry and Suzanna (Deutsch) Bleistein. During World War II, Helen served her country as a riveter on B-25 Aircraft in Kansas City. She has been an area resident for 46 years and has been a long time member of Harmony Heights Baptist Church, which she loved attending every Sunday with her dear friends Bill and Katrina Smith.

She married Wendell McClary on Dec. 17, 1947, he preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1995.

Survivors include her four children, two daughters, Carol Hicks and her husband, Hiram, of Joplin, Kathy Carrico, of Joplin; two sons, Wade McClary and his wife, Pat, of Mountain Home, Ark., Rick McClary and his wife, Laura, of Sarcoxie, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express a special, Thank You, to Dr. Rhoads and the staff at Landmark Hospital for their extraordinarily compassionate care of Mom during her last illness.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Charlie Burnett, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to services starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
