BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. —
O'Donald (Donnie) Clark Baker, passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.
Donnie was born in Baxter Springs, Kan., on June 5, 1958, and lived most of his life there, except for serving his country for two years in the Army in Germany.
Donnie's favorite past-times were drinking beer, fishing, hanging with his friends and spoiling his grandkids. He was good at telling stories, some of which his friends and family questioned as the truth. He often stopped by the local VFW to visit with friends and enjoyed long conversations with anyone who would listen. Donnie was a kind, generous steadfast friend and loved by so many people. He will truly be missed but we will all enjoy telling our own stories about Donnie, which would make him happy.
He was a valued employee at Ozark Salad Company, Tri-State Sign Company and most recently Flint Rock Sand and Gravel.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 16 years, Karen; three children, Goldie (Mark), Brandie (Bill) and Tom (Crystal); six brothers and sisters, Peggy (Gene), Beth (Danny), Garth (Lori), Tom, Charlotte and Randy; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, T.G. and Naomi.
Donnie's family invites everyone to join them for a celebration of his life on Saturday, March 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at VFW Post 408 in Baxter Springs. A private service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Donnie would be pleased to have donations made to VFW Post 408, 930 West 9th Street, Baxter Springs, KS 66713.
