JOPLIN, Mo. —
Ella Berniece Stansberry, age 90, a retired cook, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, following an illness.
Berniece was born July 13, 1923, in Butterfield, Mo. Her parents were Walter William and Martha Jane (Foster) Ogle.
She was a homemaker, but had also worked as a cook at several area restaurants and nursing homes. She was an active member of Joplin Full Gospel Church, Joplin.
She was first married to Ervin Myers. To this union was born four children. On Jan. 7, 1966, she married Porter L. Stansberry in Galena, Kan. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1988.
She was also preceded in death three brothers, Charlie Foster, William Ogle and Chester Ogle; one sister, Beatrice Nolan; and one grandson.
Surviving is one son, Walter Myers, Carl Junction, Mo.; three daughters, Sue Moore, Kellogg, Idaho, Edna Brokob, Joplin, and Stella Edwards, Baxter Springs, Kan.; and 16 grandchildren. Her surviving great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren are too many to count.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Joplin Full Gospel Church, Joplin. Pastor John Myers will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joplin Full Gospel church in care of the funeral home.
