She was a lifetime member of the American Angus Association and instrumental in organizing the Southwest Missouri Beef Cattle Improvement Association and named Cattlewoman of the Year in 1980, by her peers. She was a strong proponent of youth in agriculture and attended cattle shows across the United States either as an exhibitor or a supporter of her children and grandchildren.
Over the past 62 years, the progressive farming efforts of she and her husband, John, have been recognized with numerous awards and the herd of registered Angus cattle they developed was named as a Historic Angus Herd in 1983. Together they were honored as Seedstock Producers of the Year by the SWMBCIA in 1985, and Pioneer Angus Breeders by the Missouri Angus Association in 2002.
