JOPLIN, Mo. — Virginia Matlock "Jinny" Hulen, age 89, of Joplin, passed away  Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.

Jinny was born Sept. 8, 1923, in Webb City, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Eleanor Berrian Matlock. She returned to Webb City in the late 1950s and moved to Joplin in the late 1970s. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, of Webb City.

Jinny married Walt Hulen Oct. 1, 1949, in Eureka Springs, Ark. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 2010.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Chuck Hulen and a sister, Betty Cozad.

Survivors include one son, Hank Hulen and wife, Dana, Joplin; six grandchildren, April, Debbie, Amie, Shad, Danielle and Jeremiah; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hedge-Lewis Chapel with Hank Hulen, officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorial contributions are requested to Watered Gardens Ministry in Joplin in care of Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home.
