Albert G. Dyer

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Albert Gordon Dyer, 93, of Carthage, Mo., went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Jan. 29, 2014.

He was a member of the First Christian Church where he had served as deacon, building and grounds committee, Hospital Equipment Ministry and was a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Sunday School Class. He was born in Jasper County near Carthage, on Feb. 7, 1920, to Richard Chase and Daphne Mahala Dyer.

He married Mary Kathleen Carver on July 7, 1940 and they celebrated 62 years of marriage. She preceded him in death in January of 2003. Also preceding him in death are three brothers, Richard, Robert and Everett Dyer; and two sisters, Helen Dyer Griggs and Margaret Dyer Bland.

Albert was a graduate of Carthage High School, Class of 1937. He served in the United States Army during World War II and following the war served in the Philippines. After the service he was employed by Hercules, Inc. from which he retired after 34 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice (Garry) Adams, of Springfield, Mo. and Mary Ann (John) Gremling, of Carthage, Mo.; one son, Jon (Joanie) Dyer, of Rogers, Ark. and; five grandchildren, Kent (Lacie) Adams, of Omaha, Neb., Brenda (Randee) Kaiser, of Carthage, Mo., Matthew (Kelli) Gremling, of Republic, Mo., Jonna (Ryan) Mills and Jenessa (Mark) Bailey both, of Fayetteville, Ark.  Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence (Barbara) Dyer, Albuquerque, N.M.; and a sister-in-law, Iva McDonald, Sarcoxie, Mo.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at the First Christian Church, Carthage.  Minister David Cook will officiate. Interment and full military rites will follow at Fasken Cemetery, NE of Carthage.

Memorial gifts are suggested to the First Christian Church Hospital Equipment Ministry or the Carthage Crisis Center.
