NEOSHO, Mo. —
Bobby E. "Bob" Chasten, age 74, Neosho, Mo., passed away at 12:23 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, after a sudden illness.
Bob was born June 12, 1939, in Dove Creek, Colo., to the late Elree O. Chasten and Noble M. Chitwood Chasten and had lived in the Joplin area since 1962.
He worked as a self employed floor covering installer from 1967 to 2008. He was an airline pilot and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved horses; hunting and fishing. Bob was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church.
He married Joyce Moser in 1963 in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors are his children, Brenda Wright, Cortez, Colo., Scotty Webb, Neosho, and Steven Chasten, Neosho; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Vesta Butler, Cortez, Lendell Chasten, Montrose, Colo., Paul Chasten, Joplin, Cecil Chasten, Webb City, Glenda Griffith, Joplin, Douglas Chasten, Joplin, and Sharon Southwick, St. Louis; and an uncle, Stanley Chitwood, Elington, Mo. Bob was preceded in death by a son, Michael Chasten; one brother, Lester Chasten; and a sister, Esta Faye Harrington.
Graveside services are planned for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Saginaw Cemetery. Rev. John Mitchell will officiate.
