JOPLIN, Mo. —
Janet Kay Roberts, age 61, Joplin, passed away at 2:05 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Freeman Hospital.
Janet was born Nov. 18, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo., to the late Charles H. Pierce and Ruby C. Pierce and had lived in the Joplin area the past 10 years.
She worked as an RN for 28 years, the majority of which was spent in the NICU at Medical City Hospital, Dallas. She and her husband have owned and operated the Prosperity School Bed and Breakfast for the past 10 years.
Janet was a photographer and artist. Her drawings and works of art are proudly displayed throughout her home.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Roberts, who she married on Dec. 25, 1971 in Dallas.
Additional survivors include her daughter, Trudy Smith and her husband, Will, Caddo Mills, Texas, and their children, Clayton, Grant and Wyatt; and one brother, Larry E. Pierce, Hornby Island, B.C., Canada.
Her beautiful smile and witty sense of humor will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Memorial services are planned for Friday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the services at the mortuary.
