WEBB CITY, Mo. —
Webb City, Mo. - David A. English, age 85, of Webb City, Mo. passed away at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin following a short illness.
David was born April 28, 1927, in Joplin, Mo. and had lived in Webb City the last 30 years, moving here from Joplin, Mo. David worked as a salesman for Southwest Distributors in Joplin. He was a member of the Royal Heights Methodist Church, the V.F.W. post and he enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping. David served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
David married Virginia "Ginger" Phillips Benjamin March of 1983, in Miami, Okla., and she survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Danny English and wife, Joyce, of Atlanta, Ga., Charles English, of Topeka, Kan.; two step sons, David Benjamin and his wife, Cheryl, of Olatha, Kan. and Chuck Benjamin, of Webb City, Mo.; two sisters, Winifred Weeks, of Monmouth, Ill. and Shirley Cochran and her husband, Bill, of Ocala, Fla.; many grandchildren; and great- grand-children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfrey and Ruth English; one sister, Janet English; two sons, Mike and Mark English; and one step son, Steve Benjamin.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 30, at Royal Heights Methodist Church, Joplin, with Terri Haywood, Minister, officiating.
Memorial contributions are requested to Royal Heights Methodist Church in care of the Funeral Home.
David has been cremated.
