JOPLIN, Mo. —
Gene Adam Yingst, age 76, Joplin, passed away at 6:21 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, at his residence.
He was born May 30, 1936, in Joplin, to the late William Barnett Yingst and Bertha Evelyn Sex Yingst and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.
Gene owned and operated Custom Heating and Air in Joplin, for many years. He also worked at Naatz Sheet Metal, Morgan Roofing and Rainey Sheet Metal. He was a member of the Missouri National Guard.
Gene married Judith Weir on Feb. 27, 1960, in Miami, Okla. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2003.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindie Lopardo and her husband, Michael, Joplin; grandchildren, Adam Lopardo, John Lopardo, Valerie O'dell and Vicki Brown; and two great-grandchildren, Abby Profitt and Melody Profitt.
Graveside services are planned for Thursday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Phil Erwin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Pallbearers will be Homer Price, Murrell Bass, Jim Starrett, Charlie England, Mike Wilson and Dick Wilson.
