SPRINGFIELD, Mo. —
Daniel Mark Kluthe, age 63, Springfield, Mo., passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013, in Columbus, Kan.
Daniel was born Oct. 21, 1949, in Beaumont, Kan., son of Leona Lucille King Kluthe, of Springfield, and the late Kenneth Karl Kluthe. He grew up in Kansas, and moved to Joplin in 1961, where he graduated from Joplin High School. He worked for several years with the Frisco Railroad in Columbus and Springfield, then Burlington Northern Railroad in Birmingham, Ala. and Germantown, Tenn. He retired as a manager at Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Neb., and built a homestead in Fair Play, Mo. In recent years he lived in Knoxville, Tenn. and Fort Collins, Colo., and planned to return to the Springfield area. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.
In addition to his father, Daniel was preceded in death by a sister, Mia Kluthe.
Survivors include his children, John Daniel Kluthe, of Clarksville, Ark., Colby Mark Kluthe and Asher Boone Kluthe, both of Joplin, Christine Emmons, of Kingsbury, Texas, and Marian Chamberlain, of Willard, Mo.; siblings, Beverley Kluthe, of Springfield, Steve Kluthe, of Joplin, Scott Kluthe, of Guthrie, Okla., and Kevin Kluthe, of Springfield; and grandchildren, Garrett Kluthe, Luke Kluthe, Kira Kluthe, Megan Emmons, Brooke Emmons, Brandon Emmons, Cauley Chamberlain and Celia Chamberlain.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 3, at 3 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Dr. Phil Snider and Rev. Emily Bowen officiating. Interment will be Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m. in Blankenship Cemetery, Rosalia, Kan., with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 1 p.m. until service time.
