Born Harold Bernard Jacobs Jr. in Foley, Ala., to Harry and Varrell Leona (White) Jacobs; he was nicknamed Jake when he entered the Navy.

He married Linda Dale Cox and three children were born, Harold Bernard Jacobs Jr. III (Baby Harold), Tracy Varrell (Jacobs) Lewis, of Carrolton, Texas, and Lee Aaron Jacobs, of Bedford, Texas. Baby Harold preceded his father in death at three months, due to crib death.

Jake's father, Harry Jacobs, was born July 10, 1899, in Elba, Ala., and died June 10, 1976, in Pensacola, Fla.; his mother, Varrell Leona (White) Jacobs, was born on Jan. 6, 1914, in Cario, Ga., and passed away on March 31, 2002, in Robertsdale, Ala.

Jake married Linda Lee (Tyrell) Seavey and one son was born, Adam David Jacobs, who resides in Woodbridge, N.J., with his wife, Lorraine (Fort) Jacobs and their daughter, Violet Marie Jacobs.

Jake married Cora Louise (Doodie Dickten) Jacobs in Sarasota, Fla. She survives him at their home in Joplin, Mo. Jake was the love of Cora's life and they were fortunate enough to have almost 32 years together.

Jake served in the Air National Guard of Alabama, from September 1954 to April 1956. He joined the United States Navy in May 1956, serving on the USS Essex CVA9 as a plane captain; he also played a trombone in the ships band. He left the Navy with an honorable discharge in August 1960. Jake then joined the Air Force in April 1961, serving as a radar technician at the Cape Romanzof Air Force Station, Alaska, being discharged with an honorable discharge in May 1964.

Jake started a computer company in Southern California called Microdata with his buddy from Montgomery, Ala. He was their VP and technical writer until the company was sold. He loved working with words and always called himself a wordsmith. He loved Sci-fi movies; one of his most favorite was the original Thing. He loved to read and his favorite authors were Stephen King and Dean Koontz.

He will be missed by his family and friends. He had a full life with many adventures and now is beginning his next adventure waiting until the day Cora will join him again.
