GALENA, Kan. —
Alan Lee Hopkins, age 66, passed away May 1, 2013, at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Mo., following an illness.
Alan was born March 25, 1947, in Joplin. His parents were Elmer and Virginia (Gilbert) Hopkins. His was a lifetime resident of Galena.
He graduated from Galena High School with the Class of 1965. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971.
He worked as a truck driver. He was a member of First Christian Church, Galena.
Alan was married to Marsha Berdd on July 13, 1979, in Webb City, Mo. She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Allison Stephens (and Justin Grant), Joplin, and Ashley Intessimone and husband, Timothy, Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Gilbert Wayne and wife, Anita Hopkins, Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Gay Ladner and husband, David, Wamego, Kan.; and three grandchildren, Logan Intessimone, Conner Intessimone and Graysen Grant; five nephews and one niece.
Alan has been taken for cremation.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
