JOPLIN, Mo. —
Goldia Lucille Irish Lanning, age 87, of Joplin, passed away at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at National Healthcare Center in Joplin following an illness of a few weeks.
Born Oct. 17, 1925, in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Harry Irish and Sybil Puckett Irish. In her early life she worked at Safeway Bakery and then worked at Tick-O-Time Jewelers as a salesperson. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joplin First Ward.
On Dec. 24, 1944, she married Walter Eugene Lanning in Joplin. He preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 2001; her son, Harry James Lanning preceded her on May 27, 2007; and a grandson, Timothy Scott Lanning preceded her on March 20, 2006.
Survivors include her son, Randy Lanning and wife, Kim, of Wonder Lake, Ill.; six grandchildren, Brian Lanning and wife, Angie, of Algonquin, Ill., Heather Fry and husband, Nick, of Quapaw, Okla., Tyler Lanning, of Woodstock, Ill., Kristopher Lanning and wife, Theresa, Traci Burnham and husband, Michael, of Elmhurst, Ill., Brooke McMullen, of Joplin, Michael Lanning, of Spavinaw, Okla.; her brothers, Warren Irish, of Joplin, Jack Irish and wife, Marty, of Porterville, Calif.; nine great-grandchildren, Olivia, Avery, Carson, Morgan, Dakota, Logan, Sidney, Zack and Luke.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Parker Chapel with Bishop Chris Hoffman presiding. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Family members serving as pallbearers are Logan Eugene Lanning, Dakota Ryan Lanning, Nick Fry, Kristopher James Lanning, Brian Scot Lanning and Michael Scott Lanning. The family will receive friends preceding the service, beginning at 9 a.m. at the mortuary.
