BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. — Anna Louise Johnson, age 79, of Baxter Springs, Kan., a former resident of Park Plaza Mobile Home Park in Joplin, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing.

Born April 15, 1934, in Happy Hollow, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Virgil Thompson and Willie Tate Thompson and lived in Burnside, Ill. until 1970, when she moved to the Webb City area. She then lived in the Parsons area until moving to Joplin in 2000. A homemaker and loving mother, she went back to school in the 1970s and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pittsburg State University. She served as a Registered Nurse with the Labette County Health Department until her retirement.

She was a member of Altamont Holiness Church.

She married Wilmer Turner in 1951, and they later divorced. In 1981, she married Delbert Johnson and they later divorced.

Survivors include four children, Sherri Lewis and husband, Robert, of Carthage, Joyce Turner, of Joplin, Cary Turner, of Joplin, and Amy Wade and husband, Brian, of St. Charles, Mo.; six grandchildren, Byron Turner, Kristal Wilson and husband, Tim, Rusty Shallenburger and wife Summer, Chelsi Lewis, Ann Wade and Emily Wade; and five great-grandchildren, Regan, Ryann, Rachel, Tristan and Riley. Two brothers, Bill Thompson and Virgil E. Thompson, preceded her in death.

A memorial visitation will be held at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. The body will be cremated. Private interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Doniphan, Mo., at a later date.
