JOPLIN, Mo. —
Dale B. Holly, age 82, Joplin, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Freeman Hospital after an illness.
Dale was born July 10, 1930, in Bentonville, Ark., to the late Eugene Alonzo Holly and Mary J. Wallace Holly and had lived in Joplin since 1957.
He worked as a barber for 50 years, retiring in 2006. Dale was a people person and loved to visit. He enjoyed visiting garage sales and became quite an avid collector of many things. He was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church and served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. His family meant everything to him and he will be greatly missed.
Dale married Shirley M. Loflin on June 3, 1988, in Webb City. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include three sons, Dwayne B. Holly, Sarcoxie, Darwin E. Holly, Carl Junction, Wes G. Holly, Baltimore, Md.; two daughters, Lisa Martin, Quapaw, Okla., Dawn Lewis, Joplin; step children, Jerry Loflin, Joplin, Terry Young, Springfield, Martha Dipley, Springfield, Karen Morrison, Pittsburg, Kan., Steven Loflin, Shell Knob, Mary Grissom, Joplin; one brother, Everett Holly and his wife, Alice, Southwest City; one sister, Wilma Cuenod, Broken Arrow, Okla.; two sisters-in-law, Joan Holly, Collinsville, Okla., Anny Holly, Southwest City, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are planned for Monday at 1 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Raymond Bob Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Garrison, Huk Smith, Roger Pickering, Bob Reis, Bernie Massey and Wayne Johnson. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dale Holly Memorial Fund, in care of Pinnacle Bank or to Parker Mortuary.
