JOPLIN, Mo. —

Mrs. Juanita Katherine Freeman, 83, of Joplin, Mo., departed this life on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at her daughter's home in Tulsa, Okla., after a recent decline in health.

Juanita entered this life on March 10, 1929, in Altoona, Kan., born to the union of the late John and Mazie (Clack) Fowler. Her formative years were spent in the state of Kansas. She resided for several years in Nevada, Mo., before moving to Joplin in the late 1970's. Throughout her life she was a devoted homemaker to her family.

On Dec. 7, 1977, she was united in marriage to John Drew Freeman and together they shared 15 years before his passing on Dec. 31, 1992. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Alice Mae Harrell; and a brother, Bill Fowler.

Juanita is survived by her four children, Wanda Lee Mayers, of Corsicana, Texas, Sandra Kay Turley, of Linn Valley, Kan., Robert Walker, of Joplin and Peggy Jo Freeman, of Tulsa; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; an uncle, Marion Cocke, of Leavenworth, Kan.; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Freeman will be held on Monday, Feb. 25, at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, at 12 p.m. Her grandchildren will officiate the service as well as honor her life by serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Mo.
