JASPER, Mo. —
Donna Joan Craig, age 75, of Jasper, Mo., passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family, following a two year illness.
Donna was born on Aug. 21, 1937, in rural Brazelton, Kan., the daughter of the late George and Edith (Farrell) Garritson. She has been an area resident since 1963.
She married Richard Craig on May 23, 1954, in Weir, Kan. Together they raised a family of four children. Donna was a member of the North Main Street Baptist Church. She was an active member of the church, serving several years as the church secretary, custodian, and spending countless hours caring for the elderly. She also volunteered for Meals On Wheels and NALA an adult literacy program.
She is survived by her husband, of nearly 59 years, Jasper, Mo.; two sons, Ronnie Craig and wife, Dawn, Carl Junction, Mo. and Rick Craig and wife, Allison, Carl Junction, Mo.; two daughters, Laurie Hensley, Alba, Mo. and Susie Kean, Alba, Mo.; one brother, Don Garritson, rural Pittsburg, Kan.; 12 grandchildren, Randy Craig, Angie Shuster, Amy Ghidotti, Josh Craig, Andy Hensley, Tracy Ryberg, Amber Hulstine, Adam Hensley, Teddy Kean, Austin Craig, Maici Craig, and Ross Craig; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ed Garritson.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the North Main Street Baptist Church. Reverend Ron Crow will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in care of the Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home & Crematory.
