CARTHAGE, Mo. —
David L. Young "Papa", 53, of Carthage passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at his home north of Jasper due to a sudden illness.
David was born May 5, 1959, in Carthage. He was the son of Clifford Young and Lois Wilson Young. David graduated from Jasper High School in 1977. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for several years and then worked for V.S.S.I in Carthage and was a lifetime farmer. David was a member of the Carthage Burn Crew and earned three crutches on his fess. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church where he was baptized on April 12, 1981.
David was united in marriage to Amy Stockdale on May 28, 1982, in Jasper, Mo.
Survivors include one son, Clayton D. Young, of Carthage; one daughter, Melinda Buchanan and husband, Gideon, of Carthage; his parents Clifford and Lois Young; three sisters, Brenda Felts and husband, Jim, of Lamar, Mo., Linda Parker, of Dighton, Kan., and Lisa Overman and husband, Scott, of Columbus, Kan.; one brother-in-law, Robert Gasteel, of Sand Springs, Okla.; a very special grandson, Hayden Gator Buchanan; Amy Stockdale and numerous extended Family. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Herman and Florence Young; and maternal grandparents, Albert and Anna Wilson, all formerly of Jasper.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Shriners Travel Fund in care of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
