JOPLIN, Mo. —
Nellie Lavern Hoskins, age 83, of Joplin passed away at 2:24 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at a local health care center.
Born Dec. 4, 1929, in Monte Ne, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Flossie Henry Autrey and had lived in Joplin since 1969. She was a member of Christ's Church of Perseverance.
On Aug. 20, 1949, she married Richard Gordon Hoskins at Fort Smith, Ark. He preceded her in death on Feb. 3, this year; a sister, Berneice Jones, also preceded her.
Survivors include a son, Bob Hoskins and wife, Kathryn, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a daughter, Laura Hurn and husband, Jhan, of Joplin; five grandchildren, Jennifer Hamilton and husband, Wade, Amanda Stanley and husband, Ryan, Devin Hurn and wife, Courtny, Amanda Messbarger and Matthew Messbarger; along with eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Chapel with Rev. Bob Dart officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Smith, Perry Smith, Kevin Keys, Devin Hurn, Wade Hamilton, and Ryan Stanley. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
