JOPLIN, MO —

 

Kenneth D. Clark, 67, Joplin, Mo., passed away April 28, 2012, at his home from a lengthy illness.

Ken was born July 1, 1944, in Kansas City, Mo., to John Kenneth and Martha Charlene Birdsong Clark, who preceded him in death.

He was a professional auto salesman and retired in 2001, after 35 years. After his retirement he worked at the Joplin Public Library for five years. While working at the library he met and influenced many people. He was a member of the class of 1962 Bolivar, Mo.

He married Jan Shoemaker May 9, 2008, in Joplin. She survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Keri Simon and husband, Doug, Columbia, Mo., and Jennifer Mackie and husband, Gary, Bolivar; six grandchildren, Amanda, Gage, John, Claire, Chloe and Cole; one great-granddaughter, Abigail; three step children; and seven step grandchildren.

It was Kenneth's wish to be cremated.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Bolivar. A celebration of his life will be held at his home on May 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Joplin Humane Society in care of the mortuary.
