Barbara Allen Pollard, 85, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, in Claremore, Okla.
She was born June 8, 1928, in Coy, Ark. to Luke Allen and Cecil Beatrice (Harris) Weaver.
Barbara attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla., where she received her masters degree.
She married Carl Henry Pollard on Oct. 31, 1943, in Claremore and he preceded her in death.
She was a retired School Teacher and served as Ottawa County Superintendent of Schools for independent school systems, she was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Miami and a member of the Oklahoma State Retired School Teachers Association.
Mrs. Pollard is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Thomas Weaver; sister, Mildred Pierce; and three grandchildren.
Survivors: four daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Jack Green, of Wagoner, Okla., Frances and B.P. Sommerfeld, of Fairland, Okla., Margie and John Gleaton, of Comanche, Texas and Millie and Joe Cook, of Ft. Gibson, Okla.; two brothers, Perney Weaver and Claude Weaver both, of Alexandra, Ind.; two sisters, Daisy and her husband, John Smith, of Daleville, Ind, Dora Marie Volenhalls, of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sister-n-laws, Doris Pollard, of Adair, Okla. and Ora Lee Pollard, of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Miami, Okla., with Pastor Dewey Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Abbey Cemetery under direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami. The family will receive friends and relatives 6 to 8 p.m. Monday June 17, at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
