Leo Palmer

Leo Palmer, Kimberling City, Mo., was born Nov. 18, 1941, in Pittsburg, Kan., to his parents, Lorena (Burke) Palmer and Harold Palmer.
He moved from Mulberry, Kan., when he was a sophomore in high school to Lamar, Mo. Leo went to the University of Missouri at Rolla and married Charlotte Lucietta on Sept. 3, 1961. Leo finished his schooling in Rolla, graduating in 1963 with a degree in electrical engineering, and went on to work at the Pacific Missile Test Range at Pt. Mugu, Calif.
Leo received his Masters at the University of Santa Barbara in Computer Science while in California. He lived in Camarillo, Calif., and became involved with the youth group at the Christian Church.
He and Charlotte loved the outdoors and enjoyed backpacking in the Sierra Mountains. They adopted Evan Lee, in 1968, and Karla Leigh in 1977.
In October, 1978, Leo and his family moved to Los Alamos, N.M., and he began work at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. He enjoyed the mountains and all that goes with it; hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing etc.
Contractor work at Boeing called them back to Missouri in 1995 to the St. Louis area. In 2002, work brought Leo and Charlotte to the Springfield area and they purchased a house on Table Rock Lake.
Leo is the proud Grandpa of Sabrina and Drew Bingham of O'Fallon, Mo., and Maycie and Carson Palmer of Nixa, Mo.
Leo retired in June 2011, and has enjoyed traveling all over the United States and camping with his camping club. He loved attending his grandkids activities and having them down to the lake.
