Wanda Bell (Harris) Dickens

FAIRVIEW, Mo. — Wanda Bell Harris Dickens, 86, Fairview, Mo., died April 15, 2014, at the home of her sister, Willadean, where she had made her home the last two years.

Wanda was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Fairview, the daughter of Amza Clovis and Lovena Odell (Bradley) Harris. She was a lifelong area resident and attended and graduated from Fairview School and was a member of the Eastern Star for many years. Wanda was a determined and strong woman, who independently raised chickens for Hudson and Simmons for 30 years and then raised dogs with her brother-in-law, Virgil Flaxbeard in Rocky Comfort, for 13 years. Wanda was always willing to give all she could to her family and friends. She was a strong Christian and attended the Living Word Mission in Simco.

Wanda married Kenneth Dickens on Aug. 31, 1946, in Columbus, Kan., and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sister, Willadean Allen; brothers, Harold Harris and Ray Harris; three nephews, Larry Harris, Terry Harris and Scott Harris; five nieces, Brenda Love, Linda Granger, Karen Brown, Terrill Murphy and Kitty Harris; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her younger brother, Clovis Harris; and great nephew, Kit Spencer.

Services will be Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Granby. Rev. Billy Jo Gentry will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dice Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Butch Love, Gary Brown, Carl Lee Kruse, Jack Warren, Charlie Goswick and Randy Schmidt. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby, on Friday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and the family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Granby, Mo.
