Bobby Ray Crane

QUAPAW, Okla. — Bobby Ray Crane, age 80, passed from this life on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

Bob was born on April 25, 1933, at home in rural Riverton, Kan., to the union of Floyd and Nettie (King) Crane. Bob served in the United States Army during the Korea Conflict. After the service Bob went to work for B.F. Goodrich and had several titles from tire builder to fork lift driver and more. During this time he also owned and operated Cranes Donut Shop during the seventies. Upon the time B.F. Goodrich plant shut down, Bob went to work for Cherokee County as a mower and handy man.

Bob was a member of the Elks Lodge of Galena, Kan. He attended Macedonia Baptist Church and was baptized in 1966. He collected antique glassware and coins, he loved the outdoors from fishing and gardening. He would occasionally enjoy a trip to the casino for entertainment. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids and all children, for he loved them all. Bob was a member and elder of the Quapaw Tribe.

Bob is survived by one son, Kent Crane and wife, Janis, of Riverton; two daughters, Karen Hildreth and husband, Darrell, of Carl Junction, Mo. and Kelly Anderson and husband, Russ, of Columbus, Kan; five grandchildren, Melissa Wesley, Jerrod Gray, Gordon Gray, Jessica Hinderliter, and Wesley Anderson; along with 11 great-grandchildren. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Earl Crane, Charles Crane, and Dean Crane; two sisters, Betty Atkinson, and Bonnie Larison.

Memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, April 27, at the Quapaw Tribal Community Room.
