PURCELL, MO —
Ralph E. McKinney III, age 60, passed away on Dec. 29, 2012, at home surrounded by his loved ones after a valiant nine month long fight with lung cancer.
Ralph was born May 22, 1952, in Chicago, Ill. He graduated from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, Ill. in 1970, and lived in the Chicago area all of his life. He worked as a body and fender man and was well known in his field for his talents and was irreplaceable by up and coming body men for the wealth of knowledge he brought to the table. There was no frame he couldn't straighten.
Ralph was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ralph E. McKinney II and Mardella June Hornung McKinney.
In the most recent past Ralph was known as "gramps" to the nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren that loved him relentlessly. Ralph will always be remembered for his penchant to sit and tell jokes for hours and his desire to be one of the "Soprano's" Aaahhhhh Marone!
Ralph is survived by his partner of the past 15 years, Linda Granger-McCue; six children, Lisa Coffman and husband, (Mike), of Purcell, Mo., where he made his home for the past five weeks, Michelle Prince, of Girard, Kan., Adrienne Geer (David Brown), of Pittsburg, Kan., Lauren Ward (Dean Klier), of Symerton, Ill., Brandon Ward, of Dyer, Ind., and Joshua Granger, of Manteno, Ill. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, one nephew; and cousins who love and miss Ralph very much. Ralph has one brother, Marc McKinney (Carol), of Lewisville, Texas; and three sisters, Virginia Jingst (Ross) and Debra Briggs (Bill), of Warsaw, Ill., and Rose Mortimer (Marty), of Ainsworth, Iowa.
The body has been taken for cremation by Ralph's request and memorial service will be held in Warsaw, Ill., at his parents' grave in the spring.
