SPRINGFIELD, MO —

Anne Kassab Olive, 55, passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at her home in Springfield, Mo.

She was born in Joplin, Mo., on Feb. 9, 1957, to Anthony and Maridan Kassab, who survive.

Anne attended Columbia Elementary, North Jr. High and graduated with the class of 1975, from Memorial High School. While in high school, Anne was active in drama, crowned Basketball Homecoming Queen her senior year and was the first female to be elected as president of the Student Council. She had a large circle of friends whose friendships she cherished all of her life. She graduated with honors and was awarded multiple scholarships to several universities. She completed her first two years at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and graduated from Towson University in Baltimore, Md., with a degree in business administration. After moving to San Francisco, she attended the Culinary Institute and became an accomplished chef and baker.

As head pastry chef at the Le Meridien Hotel in San Francisco, she baked a birthday cake for Geraldine Ferraro during the 1984 presidential campaign. She also worked at the Fleur de Lys restaurant under renowned chef Hubert Keller in San Francisco, before moving to Springfield in 1988.

She was the proud mother of two sons, George Chapman Olive III and Henry Murphy Olive, who survive. Their father, Dr. Chapman Olive, who resides in Springfield, Mo.

Anne is survived by four sisters, Joy (Mike Lowe), Marilil (Paul Olive), Betsy and Martha. They loved her dearly and along with her loving parents, will miss her every day. She adored her nieces and nephews, Anthony and Sarah Lowe, David, Lillian and Frances Olive, Charlie, Annie and Madeline Dunn and Maridan and Ruth Anne Chaney. She was also dearly loved by her Aunt Martha and Uncle Lloyd Wright, Aunt Melanie and Uncle Dan Stanley, Aunt Dee and Uncle Leon (deceased) Kassab and Aunt Martha and Uncle Elroy Thomas (both deceased) and all of her cousins, Tony and Rob Thomas, Karolee Blanchard and Ralph Kassab, Matt, Ryan, Logan and Adam Stanley and Marybelle Broderick and Rebecca Medler. Her grandparents, Lillian and Raph Kassab and Mary and Dan Stanley (all deceased) were always a big part of her life. She loved them very much.

 A memorial service for Anne will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Philips Episcopal Church in Joplin.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Animal Adoption and Rescue Center in honor of her loyal dog and companion, Zoe, or St. Philips Episcopal Church and contributions may be left at the mortuary.
