JOPLIN, MO — James T. "Jim" Taylor, age 95, Joplin, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Medicalodges of Columbus, after an illness.

Jim was born May 11, 1917, in Seneca, Mo., to the late John Nelson Taylor and Martha McMullen Taylor and had lived in the Joplin area all of his life.

He owned and operated J.T. Taylor Construction in Joplin for many years. He also managed several rental properties throughout the area. Jim was active in little league baseball, enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball and loved spending time with his family and fishing. Jim also enjoyed his trips to the ATA Hall in Saginaw, where he went dancing. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.  

He married Helen Virginia Wilcoxson on April 18, 1938. She preceded him in death in 1999.  

In addition to his wife and parents, Jim was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Taylor, Ernest Taylor and Clarence Taylor; five sisters, Lizzie Ring, Clara Peterson, Gertie Lee Taylor, Lorena Taylor and Olive P. Durham; a granddaughter, Cindy Parrish; and a great-grandson, Josh Brown.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara King and her husband, Wes, Carl Junction; a son, Robert "Bob" Taylor and his wife, Sandy, Hollister, Mo.; grandchildren, Julie Brown and her husband, Chris, Kyle King and his wife, Tina, Thad Taylor, Brice Taylor and his wife, Tracy, April German and Kristy Tate and her husband, Montee; great-grandchildren, Misty Carter and her husband, Michael, Jessica Buergin and her husband, Bryce, Lauren Taylor, Jake Taylor, Abby Taylor, Collin Taylor, Seth Taylor, Allison Black, Amanda Black, Amber Black, Jacob Tate, Kody Tate, Kris Tate, Summer Tate and Savannah Tate; great-great-grandchildren, Maddie Buergin, Braxtyn Brown, Elizabeth Diane Carter and Noble Carter; and his good friend, Gene Colegrove, Carl Junction.

Graveside services are planned for Friday at 2 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Dennis Johnson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Pallbearers will be Kyle King, Bryce Buergin, Chris Brown, Brice Taylor, Jeff Turner and Carl Wayne Taylor.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in care of Parker Mortuary.  

The family would like to thank Dennis Johnson and the staff at Medicalodge for the care that they gave to Jim.
