Saginaw, Mo. —
Mr. William Raymond "Bill" Hoover, 64, of Saginaw, Mo. departed this life on Friday morning, Jan. 4, 2013, at his residence with his loving family at his bedside.
Bill entered this life on Feb. 21, 1948, in Long Beach, Calif., to the union of Raymond Doc Joseph and Pauline (Engler) Hoover. He was raised in Aurora, Mo. and was a 1967, graduate of Aurora High School. He has been a resident of Saginaw, Mo. Since 1972.
On July 3, 1981, he was united in marriage to Carol A. Gibson and together they have shared the last 31 years. His work history included, Atlas Powder Company, Modine Manufacturing and most recently Premier Turbines in Neosho. He enjoyed watching his wife and sons drag race, working on and driving Fords (especially the Ford Mustangs), spending time with his family and was a diehard KC Chiefs fan. Bill was a longtime member of St. Marys Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, UAW and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one daughter, Amy L. Hoover.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carol Hoover, of the home; three children, Bill Hoover, Jr. and wife, April, of Neosho, Mo., Matt Hoover and fiancé, Ashley Baker, of Sarcoxie, Mo. and Shelby Hoover, of the home; four grandchildren, Emily, Cameron and Coda Hoover and Danyelle Baker; his mother, Pauline Barton, of Joplin, Mo.; a niece, Becee McNally and husband, Matt, of Joplin; a nephew, Nathan Hoover, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a great nephew, Seeley McNally; as well as a host of other family and numerous friends.
Funeral Mass for Mr. Hoover will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Joplin with Father Justin Monaghan officiating. A Rosary services will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the church with visitation to follow until the time of Mass. Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Mark King, Eddie Kristek, Steve Lowery, Glen Consolver, Gary Zumwalt, James Cain, Roger Smith and Rocke DeRochey. Robert Gibson, Charles Cole, Steve McCoy and Mike Snodgrass will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to either the Joplin Area Catholic Schools or Hope Lodge of St. Louis and contributions may be left at the mortuary.
