WEBB CITY, Mo. —
Nancy Diane Darby, age 73, passed away Thursday afternoon, Jan. 10, 2013, at Freeman West Hospital following an illness.
Nancy was born Nov. 21, 1939, in Baxter Springs, Kan. Her parents were Elmer Eugene and Hazel Vivian (Pendleton) Bailey. After graduating from Baxter High School, Baxter Springs, Kan. in 1957, she attended St Johns Nursing School where she earned a registered nurse degree.
She worked as an RN over 40 years for Dr. Claiborn, Baxter Springs, Baxter Memorial Hospital, Baxter Springs, Lakeside Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., VA Hospital, Kansas City, and retired from freeman Heath Systems, Joplin, Mo. In 2002. She was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid reader and her favorite television shows were NCIS and Criminal Minds. She never complained even when her body was crippled by arthritis and diabetes and she was the best mother anyone could ever wish for. She had a brand new body now and is with Jesus in her heavenly home.
Survivors include one son, Jack Chris (Trisha) Fry, Joplin, Mo.; two daughters, Diane (Harold) Nolin, Webb City, Mo., and Anna Challberg (Desi Eaton) Derry, N.H.; one brother, Harold Hal Bailey, Joplin, Mo.; one sister, Marsha (Tom) Capps, Joplin, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Jacob Fry, Joseph Fry, Ryan Bresee, Phillip (Stephanie) Nowlin, Jared Nowlin, Cody Lowlin, and Travis Nowlin; three great grandchildren, Henry Bresee, Jace Nowlin, and Debbie Nowlin and one niece, Tracy Capps. She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Brian Moore.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Baxter Cemetery, Baxter Springs, Kan. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, Kan.
