Loma Linda, Mo. —
Joseph passed away at Freeman West on Jan. 7, 2013, at 10:01 p.m.
He was born in Brownwood, Texas on May 28, 1945. His parents were Rev. Joseph Henry and Maurine Rhea New, of Seiling, Okla. After high school graduation he joined the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of Vietnam and served 22 years.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria, who he married June 2, 1995, where she resides at their home in Loma Linda, Mo.
Additional survivors include a sister, Martha and husband, Jerry, of Tahlequah, Okla.; stepdaughter, Colleen and husband, Jeff, of Jolley, Iowa; sons, Shea and Sean, of Florida; grandchildren, Jessica and husband, Tim, of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Paul and wife, Jamie, of Oelwein, Iowa, Austin and wife, Tanya, of Manson, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Dameon, Colton, Bailey, Christian, Allie, Maci, Garret and Domonic; and many cousins and their spouses in Oklahoma and Texas.
After retiring from the military, Joe drove over the road for 15 years for CFI, now Conway Truckload. He was on his way to meeting his 2 Million Mile award when he had to retire due to health in September of 2012, when he was diagnosed with multi-melanoma. He was a patient at Spring River Christian Village until his death.
As agreed in our wills, there would be no services, only cremation. Someday when spouse, Gloria, is deceased our ashes together will be buried in Cory Grove Cemetery, Sac City, Iowa.
