JOPLIN, MO —

Joy Lea Kelley Hight, age 82, of Joplin, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Sarcoxie Nursing Center. She had experienced a lengthy illness resulting from a series of strokes.

Born Sept. 23, 1930, in Pineville, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Foster Kelley and had lived in the area her lifetime. She graduated from Pineville High School and was a homemaker. She lived at 1822 West 4th Street and then 1702 West 4th Street for 56 years and spent the last three years of her life with her son, Jerry, in Sarcoxie, Mo.

Her husband, John W. Hight, preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1993. She was also preceded by six siblings.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Hight and wife, Vivian, of Neosho, Mo., and Jerry Hight, of Sarcoxie; and one grandson, Jason Hight, of Joplin.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Parker Chapel with Charles Shaw officiating. Visitation will follow at the mortuary. Private entombment in Ozark Memorial Park Columbarium will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the mortuary.
