JOPLIN, MO — Lois Story, age 94, Joplin, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at a local nursing center after an illness.

Lois was born July 12, 1918, in Comanche, Okla., to the late Virgil Malone and Myrtle Fletcher Malone and had lived in the Joplin area for several years.  

In her early life, she worked two jobs, saving every penny she earned. She worked as a waitress at an upscale sports bar in Chicago and would tend bar at night. She was a member of Generations Free Will Baptist Church, Joplin.

Lois married Clifford Seat in October of 1934 in Oklahoma. He preceded her in death.  

She was also preceded in death by a son, Clifford Lloyd Seat; one sister; and five brothers.

Survivors include a son, Gene Seat, Joplin; two sisters, Bonnie Gray, Duncan, Okla., Dortha Mobly, Moore, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Helen Seat, of Joplin; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Jerald Bass will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary.
